WHAT IS GUA SHA?
Gua sha is a traditional Chinese healing technique that involves scraping the skin with a massage tool to improve circulation. The term “gua sha” translates to “scraping sha,” where “sha” refers to stagnant energy or inflammation in the body. During a gua sha session, a smooth-edged tool, is used to apply pressure and friction to the skin. This action helps to break up stagnation, promote blood flow, and stimulate the body’s natural healing response. Gua sha is commonly used to relieve muscle tension, reduce inflammation, and promote overall wellness. It’s been practiced for centuries in traditional Chinese medicine and is gaining popularity in Western wellness practices as well.
With our Gua Sha Set, you get both the traditional massage stone and the popular facial roller.
The massage stone can also be used to massage the neck in order to counteract migraines and muscle pain. Gua Sha massage is particularly known for its ability to reduce bloating and give a fresher appearance due to its ability to increase blood circulation and perform lymphatic drainage.

– Roll from the eyebrows up the forehead.
– Roll from the lower lip down along the neck.
Use the small roller for finer areas and the large roller for larger areas.
Using the Massage Stone
Before starting, it’s best to prep your skin by moisturizing with water, cream, or oil.
- Hold your Gua Sha with the curved side facing your face. Begin by gently gliding the stone from the top of your neck downwards to encourage fluid drainage. Repeat this motion 3-5 times.
- Next, glide the stone along your jawline, chin, and around your mouth. Stroke the skin three to five times in short, deliberate motions, following the illustration provided. Always maintain a consistent direction, avoiding back-and-forth movements. If you encounter stiffness, start with gentle pressure and gradually increase to relax the muscles.
- For areas of swelling or irritation, press the stone flat against the skin under your eyes or over the affected areas to provide relief.
- Lastly, use short, vertical strokes to move the Gua Sha from the top of your eyebrows up towards your forehead. Alternatively, hold the stone between your brows and apply gentle pressure to release tension.
By following these steps, you can effectively utilize the Gua Sha for a relaxing and rejuvenating massage experience.
